Nowbefore the feast of the passover, when Jesusknewthathishour was comethat he should depart out ofthisworldunto the Father, having loved his ownwhich were in the world, he lovedthemunto the end.
2
Andsupper being ended, the devil having nowputinto the heart of JudasIscariot,Simon's son, tobetrayhim;
3
Jesusknowingthat the Father had given all thingsintohishands,andthat he was comefromGod,andwenttoGod;
4
He risethfromsupper, and laid aside his garments;andtook a towel, and girdedhimself.
5
After that he pourethwaterinto a bason, andbegan to wash the disciples'feet, and to wipe them with the towelwherewith he wasgirded.
6
Then cometh hetoSimonPeter:andPetersaith[a] unto him,Lord,dostthouwashmyfeet?
8
Petersaith unto him, Thou shaltnever**washmyfeet.Jesusansweredhim,If I washtheenot, thou hastnopartwithme.
9
SimonPetersaith unto him,Lord, notmyfeetonly, butalso my handsand my head.
10
Jesussaith to him,He that is washedneedethnot*save to wash his feet, butisclean every whit:andyeareclean, butnotall.
11
For he knewwho should betrayhim;thereforesaidhe, Ye arenotallclean.
12
Soafter he had washedtheirfeet, and had takenhisgarments, and was set downagain, he said unto them,Know yewhat I have done to you?
13
YecallmeMasterandLord:and ye saywell;for so I am.
14
IfIthen, your LordandMaster, have washedyourfeet;yealsoought to wash one another'sfeet.
15
For I have givenyou an example, thatye should doas*I have done to you.
16
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servantisnot greater thanhislord;neither he that is sent greater than he that senthim.
17
If ye know these things, happy are yeif ye dothem.
18
I speaknotofyouall:Iknowwhom I have chosen: butthat the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eatethbreadwithme hath lifted uphisheelagainstme.
19
Now[b]Itellyoubefore it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believethatIam he.
20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receivethwhomsoeverIsendreceivethme;and he that receivethmereceiveth him that sentme.
21
When Jesushadthussaid, he was troubled in spirit, andtestified, andsaid, Verily, verily, I say unto you, thatoneofyou shall betrayme.
22
Then the discipleslooked one on another*, doubtingofwhom he spake.
23
Now there wasleaningonJesus'bosomone of hisdisciples,whomJesusloved.
24
SimonPeterthereforebeckoned to him, that he should askwho it shouldbeofwhom he spake.
25
Hethen lying on*Jesus'breastsaith unto him,Lord, who is it?
26
Jesusanswered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop,[c] when I have dipped it.And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to JudasIscariot, the son of Simon.
27
Andafter the sop*Satanenteredintohim.ThensaidJesus unto him,That thou doest, doquickly.
28
Now no man at the tableknew for whatintent he spakethis unto him.
29
Forsome of them thought, becauseJudashad the bag, thatJesus had said unto him,Buy those things that we have need ofagainst the feast;or,that he should givesomething to the poor.
30
Hethen having received the sopwentimmediatelyout: and it wasnight.
31
Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesussaid, Nowis the Son of manglorified, andGod is glorifiedinhim.
32
IfGod be glorifiedinhim,Godshallalsoglorifyhiminhimself,andshallstraightwayglorifyhim.
33
Little children, yet a little while I amwithyou. Ye shall seekme:andas I said unto the Jews*, WhitherIgo, yecannot*come; sonow I say to you.
34
A newcommandment I give unto you,That ye love one another;as I have lovedyou, thatyealsolove one another.
