Forwhatis a manadvantaged, if he gain the wholeworld,andlosehimself,or be cast away?

Forwhosoevershall be ashamed of meand of mywords, of himshall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall comein his ownglory,and in his Father's,and of the holyangels.

But I tellyou of a truth, there besomestandinghere,whichshallnottaste of death,tilltheysee the kingdom of God.

And it came to passabout an eightdaysafterthesesayings*,[a] he tookPeterandJohnandJames, and went upinto a mountain to pray.

Andasheprayed, the fashion of hiscountenancewasaltered,andhisraiment was white and glistering.
30
And,behold, there talked with himtwomen,whichwereMosesandElias:

Whoappearedinglory, and spake of hisdeceasewhich he shouldaccomplishatJerusalem.
32
ButPeterand they that were withhimwereheavy with sleep:and when they were awake, they sawhisglory,and the twomen that stood withhim.
33
And it came to pass, astheydepartedfromhim,PetersaiduntoJesus,Master, it isgood for us to behere:and let us makethreetabernacles; one forthee,and one forMoses,and one forElias:notknowingwhat he said.

Whilehethusspake, there came a cloud,andovershadowedthem:and they fearedastheyenteredinto the cloud.
35
And there came a voice out of the cloud,saying, ThisismybelovedSon:hearhim.
36
And when the voice was past*, Jesus was foundalone.Andthey kept it close, andtold no maninthosedaysany of those things which they had seen.
37
And it came to pass, that on the nextday, when they were come downfrom the hill,muchpeoplemethim.
38
And,behold, a manof the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseechthee,lookuponmyson:for he ismine only child.
39
And,lo, a spirittakethhim,and he suddenly crieth out; and it tearethhim that he foamethagain,andbruisinghimhardlydepartethfromhim.
40
And I besoughtthydisciplestocasthimout; and they couldnot.
41
AndJesusansweringsaid, Ofaithlessandperversegeneration,howlong shall I bewithyou,andsufferyou?Bringthysonhither.

And as hewasyet a coming, the devilthrewhimdown, andtare him. AndJesusrebuked the uncleanspirit,andhealed the child,anddeliveredhimagain to hisfather.

And they wereallamazedat the mighty power of God.But while they wondered every oneat all thingswhichJesusdid, he saiduntohisdisciples,

Let thesesayings sink downintoyour*ears:for the Son of man shall bedeliveredinto the hands of men.

But they understood notthissaying,and it washidfromthem,that they perceiveditnot:and they feared to askhimofthatsaying.

Then there arose a reasoningamongthem,whichofthem should begreatest.

AndJesus,perceiving the thought of theirheart,took a child, and sethimbyhim,

Andsaid unto them,Whosoevershallreceivethischildinmynamereceivethme:andwhosoevershallreceiveme receiveth him that sentme:for he that isleastamongyouall, the same shall begreat.

AndJohnanswered and said, Master, we sawone casting outdevilsinthyname;and we forbadhim,because he followethnotwithus.

AndJesussaiduntohim,Forbid him not:forhe that isnotagainstusisforus.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up*, he stedfastly sethisface to gotoJerusalem,

Andsentmessengersbeforehisface:and they went, and enteredinto a village of the Samaritans,to make ready for him.

And they didnotreceivehim,becausehisfacewas as though he would gotoJerusalem.

And when hisdisciplesJamesandJohnsaw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we commandfire to come downfromheaven,andconsumethem,evenasEliasdid?

But he turned, and rebukedthem,andsaid, Ye knownot what manner of spiritye are of.
56
For the Son of manisnotcome to destroymen'slives,but to save them. And they wenttoanothervillage.

And it came to pass, that, as theywentin the way, a certain man saiduntohim,Lord, I will followtheewhithersoeverthougoest.

AndJesussaid unto him,Foxeshaveholes,andbirds of the air have nests;but the Son of manhathnotwhere to lay his head.
59
And he saiduntoanother,Followme.But he said, Lord,suffermefirst to go and burymyfather.
60
Jesussaid unto him,Let the deadburytheirdead:butgothou and preach the kingdom of God.
61
Andanotheralsosaid, Lord, I will followthee;butletmefirst go bid them farewell, which are at home atmyhouse.

AndJesussaiduntohim,No man, having puthishandto the plough,andlookingback*, isfitfor the kingdom of God.
