Leviticus 8:4

Leviticus 8:4 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 8:4

And Moses did as the Lord commanded him
He convened Aaron and his sons, and the heads of the people, at the door of the tabernacle, and came himself, and brought with him the garments, the oil, and sacrifices, even everything necessary for the consecration: and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation;
and this was, according to the Targum of Jonathan, on the twenty third day of the month Adar or February; but it rather seems to be later, some time in the beginning of Nisan or March, and before the passover began, see ( Numbers 9:1-5 ) .

Leviticus 8:4 In-Context

2 "Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of the unleavened bread,
3 and summon all of the community to the entrance to the tent of assembly."
4 So Moses did [just] as Yahweh commanded him, and the community gathered by the entrance to the tent of assembly.
5 Then Moses said to the community, "This [is] the word that Yahweh has commanded to be done."
6 So Moses brought Aaron and his sons near, and he washed them with water.
