Proverbs 7:25

25 May your heart not turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her path.

Proverbs 7:25 Meaning and Commentary

Proverbs 7:25

Let not thine heart decline to her ways
Or turn not aside from the right way, the path of truth and holiness, to those of the whorish woman, that lead to ruin and destruction; do not so much as think of going out of the one into the other; let there not be the least wandering thought, affection, or disposition of the mind thereunto; stop and check the first motion of the heart, which leads to a compliance with her, and seems to be directed to her ways, or to betray any love and liking of them; go not astray in her paths;
for whoever walks in her paths goes astray from God and his law; from Christ and his Gospel; and from the true church of God; and from the right paths of faith, duty and worship.

Proverbs 7:25 In-Context

23 until an arrow pierces his {entrails}, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that {it will cost him his life}.
24 And now, my children, listen to me, and be attentive to the sayings of my mouth.
25 May your heart not turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her path.
26 For many slain she has laid low, and countless [are] all of her killings.
27 The ways of Sheol [are] her house, descending to chambers of death.
