11
1For this is the message2which you have heard from the beginning, 3that we should loveoneanother;
12
not as 4Cain, who was of 5the evilone and slew his brother. And for whatreason did he slay him? Because6his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous.
13
Do not be surprised, brethren, if7the worldhates you.
14
We know that we have 8passed out of death into life, 9because we love the brethren. He who does not loveabides in death.
15
Everyone who 10hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that 11no*murdererhaseternallifeabiding in him.
16
We knowlove by this, that 12He laiddown His life for us; and 13we ought to laydown our lives for the 14brethren.
17
But 15whoever*has the world'sgoods, and sees his brother in need and 16closes his heartagainst him, 17how does the love of Godabide in him?
18
18Littlechildren, let us not love with wordor with tongue, but in deed and 19truth.
