Psalms 59:15

15 They wander about looking for food, and they howl if they do not find enough.

Psalms 59:15 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 59:15

Let them wander up and down for meat
Like hungry dogs;

and grudge if they be not satisfied;
or murmur and howl as dogs when hungry, and can find nothing to eat; or "when they shall not be satisfied, and shall lodge" F26; when they shall get nothing to satisfy their hungry appetite, and shall go to bed without a supper, and lie all night without food. The Targum is,

``they shall wander about to seize the prey to eat, and will not rest till the are satisfied, and will lie all night;''

that is, in quest of prey.

Psalms 59:15 In-Context

13 Destroy them in your anger; destroy them completely! Then they will know that God rules over Israel and to the ends of the earth.Selah
14 They come back at night. Like dogs they growl and roam around the city.
15 They wander about looking for food, and they howl if they do not find enough.
16 But I will sing about your strength. In the morning I will sing about your love. You are my defender, my place of safety in times of trouble.
17 God, my strength, I will sing praises to you. God, my defender, you are the God who loves me.
