Acts 8:6 Meaning and Commentary

Acts 8:6

And the people with one accord
The inhabitants of the city of Samaria, as one man, came to hear the word:

and gave heed to those things which Philip spake;
they listened to them, took notice of them, gave their ascent to them, believed and embraced them; being induced thereunto, not only upon the evidence by which these things came, but by reason of the miracles which he wrought, for the confirmation of them: for it follows,

hearing and seeing the miracles which he did;
and which are particularly mentioned in the next verse.

Acts 8:6 In-Context

4 The believers who had been scattered preached the word everywhere they went.
5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria. There he preached about the Christ.
6 The crowds listened to Philip. They saw the miraculous signs he did. They all paid close attention to what he said.
7 Evil spirits screamed and came out of many people. Many who were disabled or who couldn't walk were healed.
8 So there was great joy in that city.
