Leviticus 7:33 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 7:33

He among the sons of Aaron that offereth the blood of the
peace offerings, and the fat
Who sprinkled the blood of them upon the altar round about, and burnt the fat upon it, which were rites enjoined to be observed, ( Leviticus 3:2-5 ) :

shall have the right shoulder for [his] part;
his particular part and share, because of his service: Aben Ezra remarks, that the right shoulder was given to him that sprinkled the blood, and the breast to all the priests; and Jarchi observes, that he that was fit for sprinkling the blood, and burning the fat, and went out an unclean person in the time of sprinkling the blood, or burning the fat, had no part in the flesh.

Leviticus 7:33 In-Context

31 The priest will burn the fat on the altar. " 'But the breast belongs to Aaron and the priests who are in his family line.
32 Give the right thigh from your friendship offerings to the priest as a gift.
33 The priest who offers the blood and fat from the friendship offering must be given the right thigh. It is his share.
34 " 'I, the Lord, have taken the breast that is waved and the thigh that is given. I have taken them from the friendship offerings of the people of Israel. And I have given them to the priest Aaron and the priests who are in his family line. The offerings are their regular share from the people of Israel.' "
35 That is the part of the offerings that are made to the LORD with fire and given to Aaron and the priests who are in his family line. It was given to Aaron and his sons on the day they were set apart to serve the LORD as priests.
