Genesis 7:7 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 7:7

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons'
wives with him, into the ark
Within the space of the seven days, between the command of God to go into it, and the coming of the flood; or rather on the seventh day, on which it began to rain; when he saw it was coming on, see ( Genesis 7:11 Genesis 7:13 ) because of the waters of the flood;
for fear of them, lest, before he entered into the ark with his family, he and they should be carried away with them; or "from the face of the waters" F18, which now began to appear and spread; or rather, "before the waters" F19, before they came to any height.

Genesis 7:7 In-Context

5 So Noah did everything as the LORD commanded him.
6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the earth.
7 He went on board the boat to escape the flood—he and his wife and his sons and their wives.
8 With them were all the various kinds of animals—those approved for eating and for sacrifice and those that were not—along with all the birds and the small animals that scurry along the ground.
9 They entered the boat in pairs, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah.
