Ezekiel 11:6

6 You have killed many in this city, and have filled its streets with the slain.

Ezekiel 11:6 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 11:6

Ye have multiplied your slain in this city
Had killed many of the prophets of the Lord that had been sent unto them, and had shed much innocent blood; and not only had unjustly condemned many to die, and had put them to death without a cause; but also the death of all those that were slain while the city was besieging, and when it was taken, were owing to their advice and counsel, in encouraging them to hold out, and not deliver up the city; fancying they should be able to defend it, contrary to the declarations of the Lord by the prophet; wherefore their death is laid to such advisers, and they are called their slain: and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain;
such numbers of innocent persons being put to death, as in the times of Manasseh, ( 2 Kings 21:16 ) ; or so many dying of the famine, pestilence, and sword, during the siege, and at the taking of Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 11:6 In-Context

4 Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O mortal."
5 Then the spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and he said to me, "Say, Thus says the Lord: This is what you think, O house of Israel; I know the things that come into your mind.
6 You have killed many in this city, and have filled its streets with the slain.
7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: The slain whom you have placed within it are the meat, and this city is the pot; but you shall be taken out of it.
8 You have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword upon you, says the Lord God.
