And they continued three years without war between Syria
and Israel.
] From the time that Benhadad made a covenant with Ahab; not three full years, but part of them: it was threatened by Elijah from the Lord, that Ahab's life should go for Benhadad's, because he had let him, go, ( 1 Kings 22:42 ) , but because of his humiliation, as is thought by Ben Gersom and others, it was respited for those three years; and now an opportunity and occasion would be given for the fulfilment of what was threatened.

1 Josafat y Acab
Durante tres años no hubo guerra entre Aram e Israel;

2 pero al tercer año, el rey Josafat de Judá fue a visitar a Acab, rey de Israel.

3 Durante la visita, el rey de Israel dijo a sus funcionarios: «¿Se dan cuenta de que la ciudad de Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece? ¡Sin embargo, no hemos hecho nada por recuperarla de manos del rey de Aram!».

4 Entonces se dirigió a Josafat y le preguntó:
—¿Saldrás conmigo a la batalla para recuperar Ramot de Galaad?
—¡Por supuesto! —contestó Josafat al rey de Israel—. Tú y yo somos como uno solo. Mis tropas son tus tropas y mis caballos son tus caballos.

5 Entonces agregó:
—Pero primero averigüemos qué dice el Señor
