1 Samuel 12:13

Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye
have desired
For though God chose their king for them, it was at their request; they chose to have a king, and desired one, and they approved of and consented to, and confirmed the choice he had made, and so it was in effect their own:

and, behold, the Lord hath set a king over you;
he gratified them in their desires; though he did not suffer them to make themselves a king, he suffered them to have one, and he gave them one; this power he reserved to himself of setting up and pulling down kings at his pleasure.

12 »Pero cuando tuvieron miedo de Nahas, rey de Amón, vinieron a mí y dijeron que querían un rey para que gobernara sobre ustedes, aun cuando el Señor
su Dios ya era su rey.

13 Está bien, aquí está el rey que han escogido. Ustedes lo pidieron y el Señor
se lo concedió.

14 »Ahora, si ustedes temen al Señor
y lo adoran, si escuchan su voz y no se rebelan contra sus mandatos, entonces tanto ustedes como su rey demostrarán que reconocen al Señor
como su Dios.

15 Pero si se rebelan contra los mandatos del Señor
y rehúsan escucharlo, entonces su mano será tan dura con ustedes como ha sido con sus antepasados.
