37 Sin embargo, tal vez en esa tierra, donde estén desterrados, se vuelvan a ti arrepentidos y oren así: “Hemos pecado, hemos hecho lo malo y hemos actuado de manera perversa”.

38 Si ellos se vuelven a ti con todo el corazón y con toda el alma en la tierra en la que estén cautivos, y oran en dirección a la tierra que diste a sus antepasados —hacia esta ciudad que escogiste y hacia este templo que he construido para honrar tu nombre—,

39 oye entonces sus oraciones y sus peticiones desde el cielo donde vives, y defiende su causa. Perdona a tu pueblo que ha pecado contra ti.

40 »Oh Dios mío, que tus ojos estén abiertos y tus oídos atentos a todas las oraciones que se eleven a ti en este lugar.

41 »Ahora levántate, oh Señor
Dios, y entra en tu lugar de descanso,
junto con el arca, símbolo de tu poder.
Que tus sacerdotes, oh Señor
Dios, se vistan de salvación;
que tus leales servidores se alegren en tu bondad.

42 Oh Señor
Dios, no rechaces al rey que has ungido.
Recuerda tu amor inagotable hacia tu siervo David».

INTRODUCTION TO LEVITICUS 21

This chapter respects the priests, the sons of Aaron, and forbids their mourning for the dead, unless in some cases, Le 21:1-6; or their marriage with an whore or a divorced woman, Le 21:7,8; and the daughters of any of them to commit fornication, which is made punishable with death, Le 21:9; and it contains particular laws for the high priest to observe, who was not to mourn for any, even for his parents, Le 21:10,11; nor to go out of the sanctuary, Le 21:12; nor to marry any woman but a virgin, Le 21:13-15; and it also directs, that none of the priests having any blemish in them should be employed in divine service, though they might eat of the holy things, Le 21:16-24.
