13 Asiria invade a Judá
En el año catorce del reinado de Ezequías,
Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, atacó a las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y las conquistó.

2 Kings 18:13

Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah
Eight years after the captivity of Israel:

did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities
of Judah, and took them;
many of them, the frontier towns, and proceeded as far as Lachish; ambitious of enlarging his dominions, his father having subdued the kingdom of Israel, and being also provoked by Hezekiah's refusing to pay him tribute. Mention is made of this king by name, by Herodotus and other Heathen writers, see the note on ( Isaiah 36:1 ) in the Apocryha:

``Now when Enemessar was dead, Sennacherib his son reigned in his stead; whose estate was troubled, that I could not go into Media.'' (Tobit 1:15)

he is called Sennacherib, and is said to be son of Enemassat, that is, Shalmaneser; however, he succeeded him in his kingdom; though some ^F15 take him to be the same with Shalmaneser: he is said by Metasthenes

11 En ese tiempo, el rey de Asiria desterró a los israelitas a Asiria y los ubicó en colonias en la región de Halah, en Gozán junto a la ribera del río Habor, y en las ciudades de los medos.

12 Pues ellos se negaron a escuchar al Señor
su Dios y a obedecerlo. En cambio, violaron su pacto, es decir, todas las leyes que Moisés, siervo del Señor
, les había ordenado que obedecieran.

13 Asiria invade a Judá
En el año catorce del reinado de Ezequías,
Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, atacó a las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y las conquistó.

14 Entonces el rey Ezequías envió el siguiente mensaje al rey de Asiria que estaba en Laquis: «Yo he actuado mal. Si tú te retiras, te pagaré cualquier tributo que exijas». Así que el rey de Asiria exigió un pago de más de diez mil kilos de plata y mil kilos de oro.

15 Para reunir esta cantidad, el rey Ezequías usó toda la plata que estaba guardada en el templo del Señor
y en el tesoro del palacio.
