Deuteronomy 19:18

And the judges shall make diligent inquisition
Into the case before them, into the nature of the evidence and proof that each witness brings for or against; so the Targum of Jonathan,

``the judges shall interrogate the witness, by whom these things are said, well;''

shall thoroughly examine the testimony given, and look carefully into it:

and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified
falsely against his brother;
it appears plainly by full evidence that he has testified a falsehood of him.

16 »Si un testigo malicioso se presenta y acusa a alguien de haber cometido algún crimen o delito,
17 tanto el que acusa como el acusado deberán presentarse ante el Señor
al acudir a los sacerdotes y a los jueces que estén en ejercicio en esos días.
18 Los jueces tendrán que investigar el caso a fondo. Si el acusador presentara cargos falsos contra otro israelita,
19 le impondrás a él la sentencia que pretendía para la otra persona. De ese modo, limpiarás esa maldad que hay en medio de ti.
20 Entonces el resto del pueblo se enterará del caso y tendrá temor de cometer semejante maldad.
