Exodus 7:18

And the fish that is in the river shall die
Their element being changed, and they not able to live in any other but water:

and the river shall stink;
with the blood, into which it should be congealed, and with the putrefied bodies of fishes floating in it:

and the Egyptians shall loath to drink of the water of the river;
the very colour of it, looking like blood, would set them against it, and create a nausea in them; or "shall be weary" ^F8, tired of drinking it in a little time, through the loathsomeness of it; or be weary in digging about it, ( Exodus 7:24 ) to get some clear water to drink of; or in seeking to find out ways and methods to cure the waters, that so they might be fit to drink of, as Jarchi interprets it.

16 Luego anúnciale lo siguiente: “El Señor
, Dios de los hebreos, me envió a decirte: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me adore en el desierto’. Hasta ahora te has negado a escucharlo;

17 por lo tanto, esto dice el Señor
: ‘Te mostraré que yo soy el Señor
’. ¡Mira! Con esta vara que tengo en la mano golpearé el agua del Nilo, y el río se convertirá en sangre.

19 Luego el Señor
le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón: “Toma tu vara y extiende tu mano sobre las aguas de Egipto —todos sus ríos, canales, estanques y depósitos de agua—; convierte toda el agua en sangre. En todo Egipto el agua se transformará en sangre, incluso el agua almacenada en vasijas de madera y en tinajas de piedra”».

20 Moisés y Aarón hicieron tal como el Señor
les ordenó. A la vista del faraón y de todos sus funcionarios, Aarón extendió su vara y golpeó el agua del Nilo. De repente, ¡todo el río se convirtió en sangre!
