Acts 24:4

Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee,
&c.] Suggesting, that he could say a great deal more under this head, but, for brevity sake, should omit it; and because he would not tire his patience, and hinder business going forward:

I pray thee, that thou wouldst hear us of thy clemency a few words;
he praises him for his humanity and good nature, and for his patience in hearing causes, and promises him great conciseness in the account he should give him; and entreats that, according to his wonted goodness, he would condescend to hear what he had to lay before him; all which was artfully said to engage attention to him.

2 Una vez que hicieron entrar a Pablo, Tértulo presentó los cargos en su contra ante el gobernador con el siguiente discurso:
«Usted ha dado un largo período de paz a nosotros, los judíos y, con previsión, nos ha promulgado reformas.

3 Por todo esto, su excelencia, le estamos muy agradecidos;

4 pero no quiero aburrirlo, así que le ruego que me preste atención sólo por un momento.

5 Hemos descubierto que este hombre es un alborotador que constantemente provoca disturbios entre los judíos por todo el mundo. Es un cabecilla de la secta conocida como “los nazarenos”.

6 Además, trataba de profanar el templo cuando lo arrestamos.
