se retuerce y grita de dolor mientras da a luz,
así estábamos en tu presencia, Señor

Isaiah 26:17

Like as a woman with child
By this simile are set forth the great distresses and afflictions the church of Christ will be in, before redemption and deliverance from the antichristian yoke comes: [that] draweth near the time of her delivery;
when her burden is great and very troublesome: [is] in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs;
for her friends to come about her, and give her all the help and assistance they can: so have we been in thy sight, O Lord;
in great distress and trouble, and crying to him for salvation and deliverance, all which were well known unto him.

15 Oh Señor
, tú hiciste grande nuestra nación;
así es, tú nos hiciste grandes.
Tú extendiste nuestras fronteras,
¡y te damos toda la gloria!

16 Señor
, en nuestra angustia te hemos buscado;
bajo la carga de tu disciplina hemos orado.

17 Como la mujer embarazada
se retuerce y grita de dolor mientras da a luz,
así estábamos en tu presencia, Señor

18 También nosotros nos retorcemos de agonía,
pero nuestros sufrimientos no resultan en nada.
No le hemos dado salvación a la tierra,
ni le trajimos vida al mundo.

19 Pero los que mueren en el Señor
vivirán;
¡sus cuerpos se levantarán otra vez!
Los que duermen en la tierra
se levantarán y cantarán de alegría.
Pues tu luz que da vida descenderá como el rocío
sobre tu pueblo, en el lugar de los muertos.
