6 Hacia el 18 de julio del año once del reinado de Sedequías,
el hambre en la ciudad ya era muy intensa y se había agotado por completo lo último que quedaba de alimento.

Jeremiah 52:6

And in the fourth month, in the ninth [day] of the month
The month Tammuz ^F15, which answers to part of June and part of July; hence the fast of the fourth month, for the taking of the city, ( Zechariah 8:19 ) ; the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the
people of the land;
for the common people; though there might be some in the king's palace, and in the houses of princes and noblemen, and officers of the army; yet none for the soldiers, and the meaner sort of people; who therefore were disheartened and enfeebled, that they could not defend the city, or hold out any longer: the famine had been before this time, but was now increased to a prodigious degree, so that the people had no bread to eat; see ( Jeremiah 38:9 ) .

4 Así que el 15 de enero,
durante el noveno año del reinado de Sedequías, Nabucodonosor,
rey de Babilonia, dirigió a todo su ejército contra Jerusalén. Rodearon la ciudad y construyeron rampas de asalto contra las murallas.

5 Jerusalén estuvo sitiada hasta el año once del reinado de Sedequías.

6 Hacia el 18 de julio del año once del reinado de Sedequías,
el hambre en la ciudad ya era muy intensa y se había agotado por completo lo último que quedaba de alimento.

7 Entonces abrieron una brecha en la muralla de la ciudad, y todos los soldados huyeron. Como la ciudad estaba rodeada por los babilonios,
esperaron hasta la caída del sol y entonces se deslizaron por la puerta que está entre las dos murallas, detrás del jardín real, y se dirigieron al valle del Jordán.

8 Sin embargo, las tropas babilónicas persiguieron al rey Sedequías y lo capturaron en las llanuras de Jericó, porque todos sus hombres lo habían abandonado y se habían dispersado.
