Joshua 11:5

And when all those kings were met together
At some certain place, which Jabin had appointed:

they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom:
Josephus ^F1 says it was at Berotha; perhaps it should be Merotha, a city of upper Galilee, not far from Cedesa, the same he elsewhere calls ^F2 Meroth, These waters are the same with the lake Samachonitis, on which Hazor was situated; so that it was near Jabin where the rendezvous was. This lake is thought ^F3 to have its name from the Arabic word "Samacha", which signifies high, as Merom does in Hebrew. It was, as Josephus says

3 a los reyes de Canaán, tanto del oriente como del occidente; y a los reyes de los amorreos, de los hititas, de los ferezeos, de los jebuseos en la zona montañosa y de los heveos en las ciudades que están en las laderas del monte Hermón, en la tierra de Mizpa.

4 Todos esos reyes salieron a pelear. Sus ejércitos unidos formaban una inmensa multitud. Y con todos sus caballos y carros de guerra cubrieron el terreno como la arena a la orilla del mar.

5 Los reyes unieron sus fuerzas y establecieron su campamento alrededor de las aguas que están cerca de Merom para pelear contra Israel.

6 Entonces el Señor
le dijo a Josué: «No les tengas miedo. Mañana, a esta hora, los entregaré a todos muertos en manos de Israel. Después lisia sus caballos y quema sus carros de guerra».

7 Así que Josué y todos sus hombres de guerra avanzaron hasta las aguas que están cerca de Merom y atacaron por sorpresa.
