Therefore they could not believe
God had determined to leave them to the blindness and hardness of their hearts, and to deny them his grace, which only could cure them of it, and enable them to believe: he had foretold this in prophecy, and they were manifestly the persons spoken of; and therefore considering the decrees of God, the predictions of the prophet, and the hardness of their hearts, they were left unto, it was morally impossible they should believe,

because that Esaias said again,
in ( Isaiah 6:9 Isaiah 6:10 ) .

37 Incredulidad de la gente
A pesar de todas las señales milagrosas que Jesús había hecho, la mayoría de la gente aún no creía en él.

38 Eso era precisamente lo que el profeta Isaías había predicho:
«S
, ¿quién ha creído nuestro mensaje?
¿A quién ha revelado el Señor
su brazo poderoso?»
.

39 Pero la gente no podía creer, porque como también dijo Isaías:

40 «El Señor les ha cegado los ojos
y les ha endurecido el corazón,
para que sus ojos no puedan ver
y sus corazones no puedan entender
y ellos no puedan regresar a mí
para que yo los sane»
.

41 Isaías se refería a Jesús cuando dijo esas palabras, porque vio el futuro y habló de la gloria del Mesías.
