Luke 24:20

And how the chief priests and our rulers
Civil and ecclesiastic:

delivered him;
to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor:

to be condemned to death;
the death of the cross, by the said governor, having first seized him and examined him before their sanhedrim, and pronounced him guilty of death:

and have crucified him;
for though Pilate passed the sentence, and the Roman soldiers executed it, yet these men are said to do it, because it was at their request, and through their instigation, that it was done; hence Peter charges the Jewish sanhedrim with it, ( Acts 4:10 ) .

18 Entonces uno de ellos, llamado Cleofas, contestĂł:
—TĂș debes de ser la Ășnica persona en JerusalĂ©n que no oyĂł acerca de las cosas que han sucedido allĂ­ en los Ășltimos dĂ­as.
19 —preguntĂł JesĂșs.
—Las cosas que le sucedieron a JesĂșs, el hombre de Nazaret —le dijeron—. Era un profeta que hizo milagros poderosos, y tambiĂ©n era un gran maestro a los ojos de Dios y de todo el pueblo.
20 Sin embargo, los principales sacerdotes y otros lĂ­deres religiosos lo entregaron para que fuera condenado a muerte, y lo crucificaron.
21 Nosotros tenĂ­amos la esperanza de que fuera el MesĂ­as que habĂ­a venido para rescatar a Israel. Todo esto sucediĂł hace tres dĂ­as.
22 »No obstante, algunas mujeres de nuestro grupo de seguidores fueron a su tumba esta mañana temprano y regresaron con noticias increíbles.
