And Jesus answered and said unto them
To the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, that came with the band and officers, as appears from ( Luke 22:52 ) . The Persic version reads, "to the multitude":

are ye come out as against a thief, with swords and with staves,
to take me? (See Gill on Matthew 26:55).

46 Entonces los otros agarraron a Jesús y lo arrestaron;

47 pero uno de los hombres que estaban con Jesús sacó su espada e hirió al esclavo del sumo sacerdote cortándole una oreja.

48 Jesús les preguntó:

49 ¿Por qué no me arrestaron en el templo? Estuve enseñando allí entre ustedes todos los días. Pero estas cosas suceden para que se cumpla lo que dicen las Escrituras acerca de mí».

50 Entonces todos sus discípulos lo abandonaron y huyeron.
