Marcos 14:59 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 14:59

But, neither so did their witness agree together.
] Their witness did agree together, for they both witnessed the same thing; but not so as to found upon it the charge of a capital crime against him; their witness was not so, (ish) , "equal", was not answerable to their desires, nor sufficient to convict him of a capital crime, for which they could condemn him to death, as before observed on ( Mark 14:56 ) .

57 Finalmente unos hombres se pusieron de pie y dieron el siguiente falso testimonio:
58 «Nosotros lo oímos decir: “Yo destruiré este templo hecho con manos humanas y en tres días construiré otro, no hecho con manos humanas”».
59 ¡Pero aun así sus relatos no coincidían!
60 Entonces el sumo sacerdote se puso de pie ante todos y le preguntó a Jesús: «Bien, ¿no vas a responder a estos cargos? ¿Qué tienes que decir a tu favor?».
61 Pero Jesús se mantuvo callado y no contestó. Entonces el sumo sacerdote le preguntó:
—¿Eres tú el Mesías, el Hijo del Bendito?
