Psalm 18:3 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 18:3

I will call upon the Lord
In prayer, for fresh mercies, and further appearances of himself, and discoveries of his grace and favour;

[who is worthy] to be praised;
for the perfections of his nature, the works of his hands, his providential goodness, and more especially for his covenant grace and blessings in Christ. The Targum is,

``in praise, or with an hymn, I pray before the Lord;''

agreeably to the rule the apostle gives, ( Philippians 4:6 ) ; and this prayer was a prayer of faith, as follows;

so shall I be saved from mine enemies:
which was founded upon past experience of God's goodness to him in distress, when he called upon him, as the next words show.

1 Salmo 18
Para el director del coro: salmo de David, siervo del Se帽or
. Enton贸 este c谩ntico al Se帽or
el d铆a que el Se帽or
lo rescat贸 de todos sus enemigos y de Sa煤l. Cant贸 as铆:
Te amo, Se帽or
;
t煤 eres mi fuerza.
2 El Se帽or
es mi roca, mi fortaleza y mi salvador;
mi Dios es mi roca, en quien encuentro protecci贸n.
脡l es mi escudo, el poder que me salva
y mi lugar seguro.
3 Clam茅 al Se帽or
, quien es digno de alabanza,
y me salv贸 de mis enemigos.
4 Me enredaron las cuerdas de la muerte;
me arras贸 una inundaci贸n devastadora.
5 La tumba
me envolvi贸 con sus cuerdas;
la muerte me tendi贸 una trampa en el camino.
