And their brethren, which were in their villages
Assigned them to dwell in:

were to come after seven days from time to time with them;
there was a new course of them every week; the old ones went off of duty, and another course succeeded, which came out of the villages where they dwelt, and the old course retired to theirs.

24 Había porteros en los cuatro puntos cardinales.

25 Cada siete días, sus parientes que vivían en las aldeas se turnaban para ayudarlos.

26 Los cuatro porteros principales estaban en servicio permanente. Eran levitas y custodiaban las salas y los tesoros del templo de Dios.

27 Durante la noche montaban guardia alrededor del templo, y en la mañana abrían sus puertas.
