1 Kings 20:24

And do this thing
Also take this further piece of advice:

take the kings away, every man out of his place:
for being brought up delicately, they were not inured to war, nor expert in the art of it; and being addicted to pleasure, gave themselves to that, and drew the king into it, which they observed was the case before, though they did not care to mention it; and if they were tributaries or allies, they would not fight as men do for their own country:

and put captains in their rooms;
of his own people, men of skill and courage, and who would fight both for their own honour, and for the good of their country.

22 Más tarde, el profeta se presentó ante el rey de Israel y le dijo: «No se duerma usted en sus laureles; trace un buen plan, porque el año entrante el rey de Siria volverá a atacar».

23 Por otra parte, los funcionarios del rey de Siria le aconsejaron: «Los dioses de los israelitas son dioses de las montañas. Por eso son demasiado fuertes para nosotros. Pero si peleamos contra ellos en las llanuras, sin duda los venceremos.

24 Haga usted lo siguiente: Destituya a todos los reyes y reemplácelos por otros oficiales.

25 Prepare usted también un ejército como el que perdió, caballo por caballo y carro por carro, para atacar a Israel en las llanuras. ¡Sin duda los venceremos!»Ben Adad estuvo de acuerdo, y así lo hizo.

26 Al año siguiente, pasó revista a las tropas sirias y marchó a Afec para atacar a Israel.
