But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city
Which perhaps was in the hands of the Syrians, and was designed for a retreat for them, should they be beaten:

and there a wall fell upon twenty seven thousand of the men that were
left;
not slain in the battle; here again the Lord might be seen, who, as Abarbinel observes, fought from heaven, and either by a violent wind, or an earthquake, threw down the wall upon them just as they had got under it for shelter:

and Benhadad fled, and came into the city into an inner chamber;
or, "into a chamber within a chamber" ^F17, for greater secrecy.

28 El hombre de Dios se presentó ante el rey de Israel y le dijo: «Así dice el SEÑOR: “Por cuanto los sirios piensan que el SEÑOR es un dios de las montañas y no un dios de los valles, yo te voy a entregar este enorme ejército en tus manos, y así sabrás que yo soy el SEÑOR”».

29 Siete días estuvieron acampados los unos frente a los otros, y el séptimo día se desató el combate. En un solo día los israelitas le causaron cien mil bajas a la infantería siria.

31 Entonces sus funcionarios le dijeron: «Hemos oído decir que los reyes del linaje de Israel son compasivos. Rindámonos ante el rey de Israel y pidámosle perdón. Tal vez le perdone a usted la vida».

32 Se presentaron entonces ante el rey de Israel, se rindieron ante él y le rogaron:—Su siervo Ben Adad dice: “Por favor, perdóname la vida”.—¿Todavía está vivo? —preguntó el rey—. ¡Pero si es mi hermano!
