Ester 1:2 Meaning and Commentary

Esther 1:2

That in those days, when the King Ahasuerus sat on the throne
of his kingdom
Not only was placed upon it, but settled in it; after Xerxes had subdued Egypt, in the second year of his reign F5, and enjoyed great peace and tranquillity:

which was in Shushan the palace;
that is, the throne of his kingdom was in Shushan, the royal city of the kings of Persia; of which (See Gill on Nehemiah 1:1) (See Gill on Daniel 8:2).

1 El rey Asuero, que rein贸 sobre ciento veintisiete provincias que se extend铆an desde la India hasta Cus,
2 estableci贸 su trono real en la ciudadela de Susa.
3 En el tercer a帽o de su reinado ofreci贸 un banquete para todos sus funcionarios y servidores, al que asistieron los jefes militares de Persia y Media, y los magistrados y los gobernadores de las provincias,
4 y durante ciento ochenta d铆as les mostr贸 la enorme riqueza de su reino y la esplendorosa gloria de su majestad.
5 Pasado este tiempo, el rey ofreci贸 otro banquete, que dur贸 siete d铆as, para todos los que se encontraban en la ciudadela de Susa, tanto los m谩s importantes como los de menor importancia. Este banquete tuvo lugar en el jard铆n interior de su palacio,
