8 ¡Había estado plantada en tierra fértiljunto a aguas abundantes,para echar retoños y dar frutos,y convertirse en una hermosa vid!

Ezekiel 17:8

It was planted in, a good soil, by great waters
As is expressed in ( Ezekiel 17:5 ) ; this was done by the king of Babylon, who had raised Zedekiah from a low estate to a high one, and set him on the throne of Judah, over many people; and put him in such a condition, and in such circumstances, that he and his people might have been very happy, could they have been content:, for his view was, that he might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that
it might be a goodly vine;
that he and his people might grow numerous and rich, and be a prosperous and flourishing kingdom; this is mentioned to aggravate the ingratitude of Zedekiah, and the people of the Jews, in rebelling against the king of Babylon, who had used them well, and of whom they had no reason to complain.

6 La semilla germinóy se hizo una vid frondosa, de poca altura;volvió sus ramas hacia el águila,y hundió sus raíces bajo sí misma.Así se convirtió en una vidcon retoños y exuberante follaje.

7 Pero había otra águila grande,de gigantescas alas y abundante plumaje.Y la vid volvió sus raícesy orientó sus ramas hacia ella,para recibir más aguade la que ya tenía.

8 ¡Había estado plantada en tierra fértiljunto a aguas abundantes,para echar retoños y dar frutos,y convertirse en una hermosa vid!

9 »Adviértele que así dice el SEÑOR:»¿Prosperará esa vid?¿El águila no la arrancará de raíz?¿No le quitará su fruto,y así la vid se marchitará?Sí, los tiernos retoños se secarán.No hará falta un brazo fuerte ni mucha gentepara arrancarla de cuajo.

10 ¿Prosperará aunque sea trasplantada?¿Acaso el viento del esteno la marchitará cuando la azote?¡claro que sí se marchitaráen el lugar donde había nacido!»
