Jeremiah 44:2

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel
In which manner the prophecies of this book are frequently prefaced; see ( Jeremiah 42:15 Jeremiah 42:18 ) ( 43:10 ) ; ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon
all the cities of Judah;
they saw it with their bodily eyes; they could not but serve it in their minds; nay, had an experimental knowledge of it; they suffered it in part themselves, and must be convicted in their own consciences that it was from the hand of the Lord: and, behold, this day they [are] a desolation, and no man dwelleth
therein;
lie waste, at this very time; the walls are broken down the houses are demolished; the goods in them carried off; no inhabitants left, or very few, to rebuild the cities, till the land, and dwell therein.

1 La palabra del SEÑOR vino a Jeremías para todos los judíos que habitaban en Egipto, es decir, para los que vivían en las ciudades de Migdol, Tafnes y Menfis, y en la región del sur:

2 «Así dice el SEÑORTodopoderoso, el Dios de Israel: “Ustedes han visto todas las calamidades que yo provoqué sobre Jerusalén y sobre todas las ciudades de Judá. Hoy yacen en ruinas, sin morador alguno,

3 a causa de las maldades que cometieron. Ellos provocaron mi enojo al adorar y ofrecer incienso a otros dioses, que ni ellos ni sus antepasados conocieron.

4 Una y otra vez les envié a mis siervos los profetas, para que les advirtieran que no incurrieran en estas cosas tan abominables que yo detesto.

5 Pero ellos no escucharon ni prestaron atención; no se arrepintieron de sus maldades, sino que siguieron ofreciendo incienso a otros dioses.
