Judges 6:6

And Israel was greatly impoverished, because of the Midianites,
&c.] Were reduced very low, brought into famishing circumstances through the Midianites thus destroying the fruits of the earth year after year:

and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord;
which they should have done at first, instead of going into dens and caves; however, better late than not at all; they cried, not to the idols they had served, being sensible they could not help them, though so as to worship them; but to Jehovah the God of the whole earth, and who was in a special sense their God, though they had forsaken him.

4 Acampaban y arruinaban las cosechas por todo el territorio, hasta la región de Gaza. No dejaban en Israel nada con vida: ni ovejas, ni bueyes ni asnos.
5 Llegaban con su ganado y con sus carpas como plaga de langostas. Tanto ellos como sus camellos eran incontables, e invadían el país para devastarlo.
6 Era tal la miseria de los israelitas por causa de los madianitas, que clamaron al SEÑOR pidiendo ayuda.
7 Cuando los israelitas clamaron al SEÑOR a causa de los madianitas,
8 el SEÑOR les envió un profeta que dijo: «Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: “Yo los saqué de Egipto, tierra de esclavitud,
