2 Por ejemplo, la casada está ligada por ley a su esposo solo mientras este vive; pero si su esposo muere, ella queda libre de la ley que la unía a su esposo.

Romans 7:2

For the woman which hath an husband
The former general rule is here illustrated by a particular instance and example in the law of marriage; a woman that is married to a man,

is bound by the law to her husband;
to live with him, in subjection and obedience to him,

so long as he liveth;
except in the cases of adultery, ( Matthew 19:9 ) , and desertion, ( 1 Corinthians 7:15 ) , by which the bond of marriage is loosed, and for which a divorce or separation may be made, which are equal to death:

but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her
husband;
the bond of marriage is dissolved, the law of it is abolished, and she is at entire liberty to marry whom she will, ( 1 Corinthians 7:39 ) .

1 Hermanos, les hablo como a quienes conocen la ley. ¿Acaso no saben que uno está sujeto a la ley solamente en vida?

2 Por ejemplo, la casada está ligada por ley a su esposo solo mientras este vive; pero si su esposo muere, ella queda libre de la ley que la unía a su esposo.

3 Por eso, si se casa con otro hombre mientras su esposo vive, se le considera adúltera. Pero si muere su esposo, ella queda libre de esa ley, y no es adúltera aunque se case con otro hombre.

4 Así mismo, hermanos míos, ustedes murieron a la ley mediante el cuerpo crucificado de Cristo, a fin de pertenecer al que fue levantado de entre los muertos. De este modo daremos fruto para Dios.

5 Porque cuando nuestra naturaleza pecaminosa aún nos dominaba, las malas pasiones que la ley nos despertaba actuaban en los miembros de nuestro cuerpo, y dábamos fruto para muerte.
