1 Samuel 25:4

And David heard in the wilderness
In the wilderness of Paran, where he was, and a wilderness it was to him, being in want of food, as the following relation shows:

that Nabal did shear his sheep;
when there was generally good living, and so a proper person, and a proper time, for David to apply for the relief of his wants.

2 Certo homem de Maom, que tinha seus bens na cidade de Carmelo, era muito rico. Possuía mil cabras e três mil ovelhas, as quais estavam sendo tosquiadas em Carmelo.
3 Seu nome era Nabal e o nome de sua mulher era Abigail, mulher inteligente e bonita; mas seu marido, descendente de Calebe, era rude e mau.
4 No deserto, Davi ficou sabendo que Nabal estava tosquiando as ovelhas.
5 Por isso, enviou dez rapazes, dizendo-lhes: “Levem minha mensagem a Nabal, em Carmelo, e cumprimentem-no em meu nome.
6 Digam-lhe: Longa vida para o senhor! Muita paz para o senhor e sua família! E muita prosperidade para tudo o que é seu!
