2 Samuel 18:32

And the king said unto Cushi, is the young man Absalom safe?
&c.] The same question that was put to Ahimaaz, ( 2 Samuel 18:29 ) ; which shows what lay nearest his heart, and was uppermost in his mind,

and Cushi answered, the enemies of my lord the king, and all that rise
against thee to do [thee] hurt, be as [that] young man [is],
which was tacitly saying he was dead, and so David understood it; and he expressed it in such a manner, that David could not be displeased with the messenger; though the message was grievous to him.

30 O rei disse: “Fique ali ao lado esperando”. E Aimaás ficou esperando.

31 Então o etíope chegou e disse: “Ó rei, meu senhor, ouve a boa notícia! Hoje o SENHOR te livrou de todos os que se levantaram contra ti”.

32 O rei perguntou ao etíope: “O jovem Absalão está bem?”O etíope respondeu: “Que os inimigos do rei, meu senhor, e todos os que se levantam para te fazer mal acabem como aquele jovem!”

33 Então o rei, abalado, subiu ao quarto que ficava por cima da porta e chorou. Foi subindo e clamando: “Ah, meu filho Absalão! Meu filho, meu filho Absalão! Quem me dera ter morrido em seu lugar! Ah, Absalão, meu filho, meu filho!”
