Gênesis 36:4 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 36:4

And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz
This son of Esau, according to Jerom F14, is the same with him mentioned in the book of Job, as one of his friends that came to visit him, ( Job 2:11 ) ; and so says the Targum of Jonathan on ( Genesis 36:10 ) ; but he rather was the grandson of this man, since he is called the Temanite: and Bashemath bare Reuel;
the name is the same with Reuel or Raguel, the name of Jethro; but cannot be the same person as is said by some, for he was a Midianite and not an Edomite, ( Exodus 2:18 ) ( Numbers 10:29 ) .

Gênesis 36:4 In-Context

2 Esaú casou-se com mulheres de Canaã: com Ada, filha de Elom, o hitita, e com Oolibama, filha de Aná e neta de Zibeão, o heveu;
3 e também com Basemate, filha de Ismael e irmã de Nebaiote.
4 Ada deu a Esaú um filho chamado Elifaz; Basemate deu-lhe Reuel;
5 e Oolibama deu-lhe Jeús, Jalão e Corá. Esses foram os filhos de Esaú que lhe nasceram em Canaã.
6 Esaú tomou suas mulheres, seus filhos e filhas e todos os de sua casa, assim como os seus rebanhos, todos os outros animais e todos os bens que havia adquirido em Canaã, e foi para outra região, para longe do seu irmão Jacó.
