Genesis 42:8

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
] It being about twenty two years since they saw him, and then he was young, and his beard not grown, as now it was; and besides, he was clothed as a prince, and spoke the Egyptian language; and being in such great grandeur and splendour, and in such power and authority, and having such a retinue attending him, they never once thought of him, whom they supposed might be dead, having never heard of him all this time; or, however, it could not come into their minds, that he whom they sold for a slave could ever be governor of the land of Egypt.

6 José era o governador do Egito e era ele que vendia trigo a todo o povo da terra. Por isso, quando os irmãos de José chegaram, curvaram-se diante dele com o rosto em terra.
7 José reconheceu os seus irmãos logo que os viu, mas agiu como se não os conhecesse, e lhes falou asperamente: “De onde vocês vêm?”Responderam eles: “Da terra de Canaã, para comprar comida”.
8 José reconheceu os seus irmãos, mas eles não o reconheceram.
9 Lembrou-se então dos sonhos que tivera a respeito deles e lhes disse: “Vocês são espiões! Vieram para ver onde a nossa terra está desprotegida”.
10 Eles responderam: “Não, meu senhor. Teus servos vieram comprar comida.
