Levítico 23:26 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 23:26

And the Lord spake unto Moses
This phrase, which is a kind of preface to each precept, seems to be used to distinguish one from another, as the preceding one from the feast of Pentecost; and here, the day of atonement from that of the blowing of the trumpets; and afterwards, the feast of tabernacles from the day of atonement; the reason why it is not used before the feast of Pentecost seems to be, because, as Aben Ezra observes, that depended upon the wave sheaf, and was reckoned from it:

24 “Diga também aos israelitas: No primeiro dia do sétimo mês vocês terão um dia de descanso, uma reunião sagrada, celebrada com toques de trombeta.
25 Não realizem trabalho algum, mas apresentem ao SENHOR uma oferta preparada no fogo”.
26 Disse o SENHOR a Moisés:
27 “O décimo dia deste sétimo mês é o Dia da Expiação. Façam uma reunião sagrada e humilhem-se, e apresentem ao SENHOR uma oferta preparada no fogo.
28 Não realizem trabalho algum nesse dia, porque é o Dia da Expiação, quando se faz propiciação por vocês perante o SENHOR, o Deus de vocês.
