Yirmeyah 48:24

24 And upon Keriot, and upon Botzrah, and upon all the towns of Eretz Moav, far or near.

Yirmeyah 48:24 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 48:24

And upon Kerioth
Which once belonged to the tribe of Judah, ( Joshua 15:25 ) ; from this place Judas Iscariot is by some thought to have his name; as if it was "Ish Kerioth", "a man of Kerioth". Grotius takes it to be the Goiratha of Ptolemy: and upon Bozrah;
not in Idumea, but in Moab; the same with Bezer, ( Joshua 21:36 ) ; and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, for and near;
all the rest of the cities not named, whether nearer or farther off from Aroer.

Yirmeyah 48:24 In-Context

22 And upon Divon, and upon Nevo, and upon Beit-Divlatayim,
23 And upon Kiryatayim, and upon Beit-Gamul, and upon Beit-Me’on,
24 And upon Keriot, and upon Botzrah, and upon all the towns of Eretz Moav, far or near.
25 The keren of Moav is cut off, and his zero’a is broken, saith Hashem.
26 Make ye him drunken; for he magnified himself against Hashem; Moav also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
