2 Et au bout de quelques années, il descendit vers Achab, à Samarie. Et Achab tua pour lui, et pour le peuple qui était avec lui, un grand nombre de brebis et de bœufs, et l'incita à monter à Ramoth de Galaad.

And after certain years
Two years, according to the Syriac and Arabic versions, or in the third year after the affinity was contracted, see ( 1 Kings 22:2 ) ,

he went down to Ahab to Samaria;
to pay him a visit upon the alliance, civil and matrimonial, contracted between them:

and Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people
that he had with him;
entertained him and his retinue in a very grand and liberal manner:

and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead;

3 Achab, roi d'Israël, dit à Josaphat, roi de Juda: Viendras-tu avec moi à Ramoth de Galaad? Et il lui répondit: Dispose de moi comme de toi, et de mon peuple comme de ton peuple; et nous irons avec toi à la guerre.

4 Puis Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: Consulte d'abord, je te prie, la parole de l'Éternel.

5 Alors le roi d'Israël assembla les prophètes, au nombre de quatre cents, et leur dit: Irons-nous à la guerre contre Ramoth de Galaad, ou y renoncerai-je? Et ils répondirent: Monte, et Dieu la livrera entre les mains du roi.
