1 This is David's family born to him in Hebron: the oldest Amnon, with Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second Daniel, with Abigail the Carmelite;

These are the sons that David had while he lived at Hebron: His firstborn was Amnon by Ahinoam of Jezreel; second, Daniel by Abigail of Carmel;
2 the third Absalom son of Maacah, the daughter of Geshur's King Talmai; the fourth Adonijah, Haggith's son;

3 the fifth Shephatiah, with Abital; the sixth Ithream, with his wife Eglah.

4 Six were born to him in Hebron, where he reigned for seven and a half years. He also reigned in Jerusalem for thirty-three years.

He had these six sons while he was in Hebron; he was king there for seven years and six months.
5 These were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon—four from Bath-shua, Ammiel's daughter;

These are the sons he had in Jerusalem: first Shammua, then Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon. Bathsheba daughter of Ammiel was the mother of these four.

And then there were another nine sons: Ibhar, Elishua, Eliphelet,

9 This was all of David's family, except for his secondary wives' children. Tamar was their sister.

10 The descendants of Solomon: Rehoboam, his son Abijah, his son Asa, his son Jehoshaphat,

In the next generation Solomon had Rehoboam, who had Abijah, who had Asa, who had Jehoshaphat,
11 his son Joram, his son Ahaziah, his son Joash,

who had Jehoram, who had Ahaziah, who had Joash,
12 his son Amaziah, his son Azariah, his son Jotham,

15 Josiah's family: the oldest Johanan, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, and the fourth Shallum.

Josiah's firstborn was Johanan, followed by Jehoiakim, then Zedekiah, and finally Shallum.
16 Jehoiakim's family: his son Jeconiah and his son Zedekiah.

Jehoiakim's sons were Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) and Zedekiah.
17 The family of Jeconiah the prisoner: Shealtiel his son;

The sons of Jeconiah born while he was captive in Babylon: Shealtiel,
18 Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

Malkiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.
19 Pedaiah's family: Zerubbabel and Shimei. Zerubbabel's family: Meshullam, Hananiah, and their sister Shelomith;

Pedaiah had Zerubbabel and Shimei; Zerubbabel had Meshullam and Hananiah. Shelomith was their sister.
20 Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-hesed—these five also.

And then five more - Hashubah, Ohel, Berekiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-Hesed.
21 Hananiah's family: Pelatiah, Jeshaiah, Rephaiah's family, Arnan's family, Obadiah's family, and Shecaniah's family.

Hananiah's sons were Pelatiah and Jeshaiah. There were also sons of Rephaiah, sons of Arnan, sons of Obadiah, and sons of Shecaniah.
22 Shecaniah's family: Shemaiah and his family, Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat—six in all.

Shecaniah had Shemaiah who in his turn had Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat - six of them.
23 Neariah's family: Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam—three in all.

Neariah had three sons: Elioenai, Hizkiah, and Azrikam.
24 Elioenai's family: Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani—seven in all.

And Elioenai had seven sons: Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani.
