1 Now Benjamin begot Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,
1 Benjamin was the father of Bela (his firstborn), Ashbel (his second son), Aharah (his third son),
2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.

3 And the sons of Bela were Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,

8 And Shaharaim begot children in the country of Moab after he had sent them away; Hushim and Baara were his wives.

9 And he begot by Hodesh his wife, Jobab, and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcham,

28 These were heads of the fathers by their generations, chief men. These dwelt in Jerusalem.
28 These were the heads of families listed by their ancestry. They were the heads of families. They lived in Jerusalem.
29 And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, whose wife's name was Maacah.
29 Jeiel, who first settled Gibeon, lived in Gibeon, and his wife's name was Maacah.

33 Ner was the father of Kish. Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
34 And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal begot Micah.
34 Jonathan's son was Meribbaal, and Meribbaal was the father of Micah.
35 And the sons of Micah were Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.
35 Micah's sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 And Ahaz begot Jehoaddah; and Jehoaddah begot Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begot Moza.
36 Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
37 And Moza begot Binea; Raphah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.
37 Moza was the father of Binea. Binea's son was Raphah. Raphah's son was Eleasah. Eleasah's son was Azel.
38 And Azel had six sons whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azel.
38 Azel had six sons. Their names were Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. All of these men were Azel's sons.
39 And the sons of Eshek his brother were Ulam his firstborn, Jeush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
39 His brother Eshek's sons were Ulam (the firstborn), Jeush (the second son), and Eliphelet (the third son).
40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valor, archers, and had many sons and sons' sons, a hundred and fifty. All these were of the sons of Benjamin.
40 Ulam's sons were soldiers, skilled archers. They had many sons and grandsons, 150 in all. All of these men were Benjamin's descendants.
