1 Y aconteció que en la primavera, en el tiempo en que los reyes salen a la guerra, Joab sacó el ejército y devastó la tierra de los hijos de Amón, y fue y puso sitio a Rabá; pero David se quedó en Jerusalén. Y Joab hirió a Rabá y la destruyó.

2 David tomó la corona de la cabeza de su rey, y halló que pesaba un talento de oro y que tenía en ella una piedra preciosa; y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Sacó además una gran cantidad de botín de la ciudad.

3 Y a la gente que había en ella, la sacó y la puso a trabajar con sierras, con trillos de hierro y con hachas. Y así hizo David a todas las ciudades de los hijos de Amón. Entonces regresó David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.

4 Sucedió después de esto que se suscitó guerra en Gezer contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecai husatita mató a Sipai, uno de los descendientes de los gigantes, los cuales fueron dominados.

5 De nuevo hubo guerra contra los filisteos, y Elhanán, hijo de Jair, mató a Lahmi, hermano de Goliat geteo; el asta de su lanza era como un rodillo de tejedor.

6 Y hubo guerra otra vez en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura que tenía veinticuatro dedos, seis en cada mano y seis en cada pie; él también descendía de los gigantes.

1 Then it happened in the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that Joab led out the army and ravaged the land of the sons of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and overthrew it.

2 David took the crown of their king from his head, and he found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there was a precious stone in it; and it was placed on David's head. And he brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.

3 He brought out the people who were in it, and cut them with saws and with sharp instruments and with axes. And thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

4 Now it came about after this, that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the giants, and they were subdued.

5 And there was war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.

6 Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants.

7 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.

8 These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
