1 Entonces el rey David dijo a toda la asamblea: Mi hijo Salomón, el único que Dios ha escogido, es aún joven y sin experiencia, y la obra es grande; porque el templo no es para hombre, sino para el SEÑOR Dios.

2 Con toda mi habilidad he provisto para la casa de mi Dios, el oro para las cosas de oro, la plata para las cosas de plata, el bronce para las cosas de bronce, el hierro para las cosas de hierro, la madera para las cosas de madera; también piedras de ónice, piedras de engaste, piedras de antimonio, piedras de varios colores, toda clase de piedras preciosas y piedras de alabastro en abundancia.

3 Y además, en mi amor por la casa de mi Dios, el tesoro que tengo de oro y de plata, lo doy a la casa de mi Dios, además de todo lo que ya he provisto para la santa casa,

4 es decir, tres mil talentos de oro, del oro de Ofir, y siete mil talentos de plata acrisolada para revestir las paredes de los edificios;

5 de oro para las cosas de oro, y de plata para las cosas de plata, es decir, para toda la obra hecha por los artesanos. ¿Quién, pues, está dispuesto a dar su ofrenda hoy al SEÑOR?

6 Entonces los jefes de las casas paternas, y los jefes de las tribus de Israel, y los jefes de millares y de centenares, con los supervisores sobre la obra del rey, ofrecieron voluntariamente sus donativos;

7 y para el servicio de la casa de Dios dieron cinco mil talentos y diez mil monedas de oro, diez mil talentos de plata, dieciocho mil talentos de bronce y cien mil talentos de hierro.

8 Y todos los que tenían piedras preciosas las dieron al tesoro de la casa del SEÑOR a cargo de Jehiel gersonita.

9 Entonces el pueblo se alegró porque habían contribuido voluntariamente, porque de todo corazón hicieron su ofrenda al SEÑOR; y también el rey David se alegró en gran manera.

10 Y bendijo David al SEÑOR en presencia de toda la asamblea. Y David dijo: Bendito eres, oh SEÑOR, Dios de Israel, nuestro padre por los siglos de los siglos.

11 Tuya es, oh SEÑOR, la grandeza y el poder y la gloria y la victoria y la majestad, en verdad, todo lo que hay en los cielos y en la tierra; tuyo es el dominio, oh SEÑOR, y tú te exaltas como soberano sobre todo.

12 De ti proceden la riqueza y el honor; tú reinas sobre todo y en tu mano están el poder y la fortaleza, y en tu mano está engrandecer y fortalecer a todos.

13 Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, te damos gracias y alabamos tu glorioso nombre.

14 Pero ¿quién soy yo y quién es mi pueblo para que podamos ofrecer tan generosamente todo esto? Porque de ti proceden todas las cosas, y de lo recibido de tu mano te damos.

15 Porque somos forasteros y peregrinos delante de ti, como lo fueron todos nuestros padres; como una sombra son nuestros días sobre la tierra, y no hay esperanza.

16 Oh SEÑOR, Dios nuestro, toda esta abundancia que hemos preparado para edificarte una casa para tu santo nombre procede de tu mano, y todo es tuyo.

17 Sabiendo yo, Dios mío, que tú pruebas el corazón y te deleitas en la rectitud, yo he ofrecido voluntariamente todas estas cosas en la integridad de mi corazón; y ahora he visto con alegría a tu pueblo, que está aquí, hacer sus ofrendas a ti voluntariamente.

18 Oh SEÑOR, Dios de nuestros padres Abraham, Isaac e Israel, preserva esto para siempre en las intenciones del corazón de tu pueblo, y dirige su corazón hacia ti;

19 y da a mi hijo Salomón un corazón perfecto para que guarde tus mandamientos, tus testimonios y tus estatutos, para que los cumpla todos y edifique el templo, para el cual he provisto.

20 Entonces David dijo a toda la asamblea: Bendecid ahora al SEÑOR vuestro Dios. Y toda la asamblea bendijo al SEÑOR, al Dios de sus padres, y se inclinaron y se postraron ante el SEÑOR y ante el rey.

21 Y al día siguiente sacrificaron víctimas al SEÑOR y le ofrecieron holocaustos: mil novillos, mil carneros y mil corderos, con sus libaciones y sacrificios en abundancia por todo Israel.

22 Comieron, pues, y bebieron aquel día delante del SEÑOR con gran alegría. Y por segunda vez proclamaron rey a Salomón, hijo de David, y lo ungieron como príncipe para el SEÑOR, y a Sadoc como sacerdote.

23 Entonces Salomón se sentó en el trono del SEÑOR como rey en lugar de su padre David; prosperó y le obedeció todo Israel.

24 Y todos los oficiales, los hombres valientes, y también todos los hijos del rey David juraron obediencia al rey Salomón.

25 Y el SEÑOR engrandeció en gran manera a Salomón ante los ojos de todo Israel, y le confirió un reinado glorioso como nunca había tenido ningún rey en Israel antes de él.

26 David, hijo de Isaí, reinó, pues, sobre todo Israel;

27 el tiempo que reinó sobre Israel fue de cuarenta años; reinó en Hebrón siete años y en Jerusalén reinó treinta y tres.

28 Y murió en buena vejez, lleno de días, riquezas y gloria; y su hijo Salomón reinó en su lugar.

29 Los hechos del rey David, desde el primero hasta el último, están escritos en las crónicas del vidente Samuel, en las crónicas del profeta Natán y en las crónicas del vidente Gad,

30 con todo su reinado, su poder y todos los acontecimientos que vinieron sobre él, sobre Israel y sobre todos los reinos de aquellas tierras.

1 Then King David said to the entire assembly, "My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced and the work is great; for the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.

2 "Now with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.

3 "Moreover, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy temple,

4 namely, 3,000 talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and 7,000 talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings;

5 of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the LORD ?"

6 Then the rulers of the fathers' households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the overseers over the king's work, offered willingly;

7 and for the service for the house of God they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, and 10,000 talents of silver, and 18,000 talents of brass, and 100,000 talents of iron.

8 Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD , in care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9 Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the LORD with a whole heart, and King David also rejoiced greatly.

10 So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

11 "Yours, O LORD , is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD , and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

12 "Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

13 "Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.

14 "But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.

15 "For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

16 "O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours.

17 "Since I know, O my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.

18 "O LORD , the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers, preserve this forever in the intentions of the heart of Your people, and direct their heart to You;

19 and give to my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple, for which I have made provision."

20 Then David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD your God." And all the assembly blessed the LORD , the God of their fathers, and bowed low and did homage to the LORD and to the king.

21 On the next day they made sacrifices to the LORD and offered burnt offerings to the LORD , 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

22 So they ate and drank that day before the LORD with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed him as ruler for the LORD and Zadok as priest.

23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

24 All the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David pledged allegiance to King Solomon.

25 The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been on any king before him in Israel.

26 Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

27 The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and in Jerusalem thirty-three years.

28 Then he died in a ripe old age, full of days, riches and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place.

29 "Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the chronicles of Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of Nathan the prophet and in the chronicles of Gad the seer,

30 with all his reign, his power, and the circumstances which came on him, on Israel, and on all the kingdoms of the lands.
