1 Corinthians 13

KJV 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. NIV 1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. KJV 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. NIV 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. KJV 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. NIV 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. KJV 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, NIV 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. KJV 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; NIV 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. KJV 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; NIV 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. KJV 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. NIV 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. KJV 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. NIV 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. KJV 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. NIV 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, KJV 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. NIV 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. KJV 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. NIV 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. KJV 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. NIV 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. KJV 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. NIV 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
