1 John 1

NCV

NIV

1 We write you now about what has always existed, which we have heard, we have seen with our own eyes, we have looked at, and we have touched with our hands. We write to you about the Wordn that gives life.
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
2 He who gives life was shown to us. We saw him and can give proof about it. And now we announce to you that he has life that continues forever. He was with God the Father and was shown to us.
2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
3 We announce to you what we have seen and heard, because we want you also to have fellowship with us. Our fellowship is with God the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 We write this to you so you can be full of joy with us.
4 We write this to make our joy complete.
5 Here is the message we have heard from Christ and now announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
6 So if we say we have fellowship with God, but we continue living in darkness, we are liars and do not follow the truth.
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
7 But if we live in the light, as God is in the light, we can share fellowship with each other. Then the blood of Jesus, God's Son, cleanses us from every sin.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8 If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God's teaching.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
