CEBA 1 First of all, then, I ask that requests, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be made for all people. NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— CEBA 2 Pray for kings and everyone who is in authority so that we can live a quiet and peaceful life in complete godliness and dignity. CEBA 8 Therefore, I want men to pray everywhere by lifting up hands that are holy, without anger or argument. NIV 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. CEBA 9 In the same way, I want women to enhance their appearance with clothing that is modest and sensible, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes. NIV 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, CEBA 10 They should make themselves attractive by doing good, which is appropriate for women who claim to honor God. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. CEBA 11 A wife should learn quietly with complete submission. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. CEBA 12 I don't allow a wife to teach or to control her husband. Instead, she should be a quiet listener. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. CEBA 13 Adam was formed first, and then Eve. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. CEBA 14 Adam wasn't deceived, but rather his wife became the one who stepped over the line because she was completely deceived. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. CEBA 15 But a wife will be brought safely through giving birth to their children, if they both continue in faith, love, and holiness, together with self-control. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
