NRSA 8 I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument; NIV 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. NRSA 9 also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, NIV 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, NRSA 10 but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. NRSA 11 Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. NRSA 12 I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. NRSA 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve; NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. NRSA 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. NRSA 15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and holiness, with modesty. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
