1 En el año segundo de Jeoás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá.

2 Tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Joadán, de Jerusalén.

3 E hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, pero no como su padre David; hizo conforme a todo lo que su padre Joás había hecho.

4 Sólo que los lugares altos no fueron quitados; todavía el pueblo sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

5 Y sucedió que una vez afianzado el reino en su mano, mató a los siervos suyos que habían asesinado al rey su padre.

6 Pero a los hijos de los asesinos no les dio muerte, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, tal como el SEÑOR ordenó, diciendo: No se dará muerte a los padres por los hijos, ni se dará muerte a los hijos por los padres, sino que a cada uno se le dará muerte por su propio pecado.

7 El mató a diez mil de Edom en el valle de Sal y tomó a Sela en batalla, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy.

8 Entonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Jeoás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, veámonos cara a cara.

9 Y Jeoás, rey de Israel, envió mensaje a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: "Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo." Pero pasó una fiera que estaba en el Líbano, y pisoteó el cardo.

10 Ciertamente has derrotado a Edom, y tu corazón se ha envanecido. Disfruta tu gloria y quédate en tu casa; pues, ¿por qué quieres provocar el mal de modo que caigas tú y Judá contigo?

11 Pero Amasías no quiso escuchar. Y subió Jeoás, rey de Israel; y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se enfrentaron en Bet-semes, que pertenece a Judá.

12 Y Judá fue derrotado por Israel, y huyeron cada uno a su tienda.

13 Entonces Jeoás, rey de Israel, capturó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet-semes; y vino a Jerusalén y derribó la muralla de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta del Angulo, cuatrocientos codos .

14 Y tomó todo el oro, la plata y todos los utensilios que se encontraban en la casa del SEÑOR y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, también los rehenes; y volvió a Samaria.

15 Los demás hechos de Jeoás, cuanto hizo y su poder, y cómo peleó con Amasías, rey de Judá; ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

16 Y durmió Jeoás con sus padres, y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Jeroboam reinó en su lugar.

17 Y Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió quince años después de la muerte de Jeoás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.

18 Los demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

19 Y conspiraron contra él en Jerusalén, y huyó a Laquis; pero lo persiguieron hasta Laquis y allí lo mataron.

20 Lo trajeron sobre caballos y fue sepultado en Jerusalén con sus padres en la ciudad de David.

21 Y todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Azarías, que tenía dieciséis años, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.

22 El edificó a Elat y la restituyó a Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

23 En el año quince de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, Jeroboam, hijo de Jeoás, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar en Samaria, y reinó cuarenta y un años.

24 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR; no se apartó de todos los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo pecar a Israel.

25 El restableció la frontera de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar de Arabá, conforme a la palabra que el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel, había hablado por medio de su siervo el profeta Jonás, hijo de Amitai, que era de Gat-hefer.

26 Porque el SEÑOR había visto la aflicción de Israel, que era muy amarga; pues no había siervo ni libre, ni nadie que ayudara a Israel.

27 Pero el SEÑOR no había decidido borrar el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo, y los salvó por mano de Jeroboam, hijo de Jeoás.

28 Los demás hechos de Jeroboam y todo lo que hizo y su poder, cómo peleó y cómo recobró para Israel a Damasco y a Hamat, que habían pertenecido a Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

29 Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, con los reyes de Israel, y su hijo Zacarías reinó en su lugar.

1 In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah became king.

2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.

3 He did right in the sight of the LORD , yet not like David his father; he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

4 Only the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

5 Now it came about, as soon as the kingdom was firmly in his hand, that he killed his servants who had slain the king his father.

6 But the sons of the slayers he did not put to death, according to what is written in the book of the Law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, nor the sons be put to death for the fathers; but each shall be put to death for his own sin."

7 He killed of Edom in the Valley of Salt 10,000 and took Sela by war, and named it Joktheel to this day.

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face each other."

9 Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' But there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trampled the thorn bush.

10 "You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has become proud. Enjoy your glory and stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you, even you, would fall, and Judah with you?"

11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

12 Judah was defeated by Israel, and they fled each to his tent.

13 Then Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem and tore down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate, 400 cubits.

14 He took all the gold and silver and all the utensils which were found in the house of the LORD , and in the treasuries of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

16 So Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son became king in his place.

17 Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.

18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

19 They conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.

20 Then they brought him on horses and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah after the king slept with his fathers.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel became king in Samaria, and reigned forty-one years.

24 He did evil in the sight of the LORD ; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD , the God of Israel, which He spoke through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.

26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, which was very bitter; for there was neither bond nor free, nor was there any helper for Israel.

27 The LORD did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did and his might, how he fought and how he recovered for Israel, Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son became king in his place.
