1 Cuando oyó Is-boset, hijo de Saúl, que Abner había sido muerto en Hebrón, se amedrentó, y todo Israel se turbó.

2 Y el hijo de Saúl tenía dos hombres que eran jefes de bandas: el nombre de uno era Baana, y el del otro Recab, hijos de Rimón beerotita, de los hijos de Benjamín (porque Beerot es también considerado parte de Benjamín,

3 pues los beerotitas habían huido a Gitaim y han sido forasteros allí hasta el día de hoy).

4 Y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies. Este tenía cinco años cuando de Jezreel llegaron las noticias de la muerte de Saúl y Jonatán, y su nodriza lo tomó y huyó, pero sucedió que en su prisa por huir, él se cayó y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mefiboset.

5 Y los hijos de Rimón beerotita, Recab y Baana, fueron y entraron en la casa de Is-boset en el calor del día, mientras él dormía la siesta.

6 Y llegaron hasta la mitad de la casa como si fueran a buscar trigo, y lo hirieron en el vientre; y Recab y su hermano Baana escaparon.

7 Habían entrado en la casa mientras Is-boset estaba acostado en su lecho, en su alcoba; lo hirieron y lo mataron, y le cortaron la cabeza. Y tomando su cabeza, anduvieron toda la noche camino del Arabá.

8 Trajeron la cabeza de Is-boset a David en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: He aquí la cabeza de Is-boset, hijo de tu enemigo Saúl, el que buscaba tu vida; de esta manera el SEÑOR ha concedido hoy a mi señor el rey venganza sobre Saúl y sus descendientes.

9 Respondiendo David a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón beerotita, les dijo: Vive el SEÑOR que ha redimido mi vida de toda angustia,

10 que cuando uno me avisó, diciendo: "He aquí, Saúl ha muerto", pensando que me traía buenas noticias, yo lo prendí y lo maté en Siclag, lo cual fue el pago que le di por sus noticias.

11 ¿Cuánto más, cuando hombres malvados han matado a un hombre justo en su propia casa y sobre su cama, no demandaré ahora su sangre de vuestras manos, borrándoos de la tierra?

12 Y David dio una orden a los jóvenes, y ellos los mataron y les cortaron las manos y los pies y los colgaron junto al estanque en Hebrón. Pero tomaron la cabeza de Is-boset y la sepultaron en el sepulcro de Abner, en Hebrón.

1 Now when Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he lost courage , and all Israel was disturbed.

2 Saul's son had two men who were commanders of bands: the name of the one was Baanah and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin (for Beeroth is also considered part of Benjamin,

3 and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been aliens there until this day ).

4 Now Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the report of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled. And it happened that in her hurry to flee, he fell and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

5 So the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, departed and came to the house of Ish-bosheth in the heat of the day while he was taking his midday rest.

6 They came to the middle of the house as if to get wheat, and they struck him in the belly; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

7 Now when they came into the house, as he was lying on his bed in his bedroom , they struck him and killed him and beheaded him. And they took his head and traveled by way of the Arabah all night.

8 Then they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, "Behold, the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; thus the LORD has given my lord the king vengeance this day on Saul and his descendants."

9 David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress,

10 when one told me, saying, 'Behold, Saul is dead,' and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.

11 "How much more , when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood from your hand and destroy you from the earth?"

12 Then David commanded the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hung them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.
